Recovering
Filed under HealthSep 14You know….jeez. Honestly, it just gets kind of tiresome thinking and talking about my medical situation so let’s just agree to drop it all for the time being, okay? If something dramatic happens, I’ll let you know. Otherwise, you can just assume that I’m gradually improving. Okay? Does that work for all of you?
It does? Excellent.
Here’s a picture I took of myself this morning. As you can see, my hair is growing back. It’s in a really fairly cool funky style right now. My neighbor ladies are both envious of me. They’ve been trying to get their hair to do something similar and mine just does it by itself. This isn’t really the best picture. My hair color has turned a fairly nice silvery shade.
My darling doggie bit my finger by accident this morning. I was handing him his “ball of insanity” and he got a bit over-enthused about grabbing it. Ouchie! There was blood. He’s currently down in the basement with it, chasing it back and forth around the flute studio, barking like a lunatic. Hey, to each his own. He’s crazy for that ball. See, the thing with it is that it’s too big for him to fit his jaws around it and it’s a hard plastic so he can’t get a grip on it with his teeth. All he can do is push it around the floor with his nose.
So, that’s the big news for me. A bit finger! It’s relatively minor and should heal up easily.
On a more prosaic turn, I’m taking the dog for more short walks these days, thus building up a bit more strength. Also, I’m feeling inclined to do a bit of gardening — which seems to be a step in the right direction. In fact, it’s nice out today, so perhaps I ought to just go do that.

We just love hearing from you, Rebecca. It doesn’t have to be a medical post. It can be a Strider post. Or a Mark post. Or even what you’re reading, we’re not fussy you know! Your new hairstyle looks good on you, very stylish!

You look wonderful! Happy to hear things are going well. To bad about the bit finger. Happened to me a couple of years ago and I was in a position where I popped my shoulder and neck. From a little doggie bite I have had 2 shoulder surgeries to repair a rotator cuff tear and a two level cervical fusion. There is nothing minor about a little doggie bite

I totally LOVE your hair. I’m also glad your recovery is going well. Big Hugs to you. I look forward to your updates.

Great to hear from you!
I can relate to being sick (so to speak) of all things medical. I’m doing ok, have new house with more garden than I can deal with, and my things well distributed between both houses): Which means of course I can’t find anything. I had forgotten just how much I hate moving. At least all my animals are now in one place. There have been some noisy cat interviews and one scratched nose; but the faboulous four felines seem to be settling in. The two that like each other the least have started doing rotating shifts where one goes out as the other comes in–that seems to help a lot. Luckily we are now on a quiet street traffic wise with a wooded area across the street-Nirvana for cats! My poor old puppy (15 yr) though is starting to lose the use of her hind limbs. One of my other Aussies went through that a few years ago; its incurable and progressive and depressing as the dickens. Nita seems to be losing function pretty fast and its getting uncomfortable for her. I am afraid it will be time for the rainbow bridge soon. Sigh!
Hope we can get together soon for duets when you have the energy or just hanging out in one or other of the gardens. Cheers!

Great news, Rebecca! I check in now and then to see what you’re up to. Good to see any kind of posts. You’ve always made things you post about interesting, ever since that day years ago when I followed a link from WaPo to your site. Have a great day!

Great to hear from you and you’re rocking the new do! Very Bowie-like, circa 80′s. Mine is falling out very slowly due to Folfiri. I’m the mornings I look like the famous Gary Busey mug shot. But totally rockin’ it too:). Get better and stay that way!

Hi Dana! Yeah, Folfiri made my hair fall out too. It got to the point where it started looking really scraggly, so I finally just shaved it all off. I’ll be starting some sort of chemo again (possibly Folfiri) in November after I get back from my vacation. (Guess I’d better blog about that.) So, I’ll likely be joining you in that “Gary Busey-look” before long.
